How do I enroll my dog at Poi Dogs Day Care & Boarding?
Call us at (808)536-4443 to schedule an assessment appointment. All dogs must go thru a 4-hour assessment prior to using the facility and any services offered by Poi Dogs Day Care. During the assessment dogs will be introduced to the pack and employees and get to play with other dogs in our facility. All dogs must have an up-to-date and approved enrollment form on file along with current vaccination records.
Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered to enroll at Poi Dogs Day Care?
Dogs over 6 months are required to be spayed or neutered prior to attending Poi Dogs Day Care.
Does my dog need to have vaccination records for the assessment?
Yes. Participating dogs must have current vaccinations including Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parvo Virus, Parainfluenza and Bordetella. We require a current DHLPP vaccine (1 or 3 year) and Bordetella vaccination every 6 months.
How far in advanced do I need to make a reservation for my dog to come to daycare?
We appreciate reservations 24 hours in advance. However, if we have room to accommodate your dog, we are more than happy to take walk ins.
What do you mean by socialization?
Socialization is the process of exposing dogs to a wide variety of environments, situations, animals, and types of people. It is important for them to learn to recognize their own species, to communicate successfully with other dogs, and to learn to live well among people and other animals. By attending Poi Dogs and getting their social and physical exercise needs met, dogs are able to expel their pent up energy, and will come home happy, and tired.
What equipment does my dog need in order to come to day care?
Do you offer grooming services?
Dogs must come on a leash and have an ID tag. Owners are encouraged to have their dogs microchipped and registered with the City and County of Honolulu.
Yes! We currently offer nail cuts, baths, ear cleaning, anal expressions and teeth brushing. All dogs who are enrolled in PDDC are eligible for grooming services.
Why do you have a cut off time at 1pm?
We have a cut off time of 1pm because we like our dogs to come in with ample time to acclimate to the pack and get some good play time in before naptime starts and dogs begin to go home. It is healthy for the dogs to get some rest time in, so we allow some time after lunch for a quiet time where we dim the lights and turn on sleep music. After naptime, we get the dogs up for some play time before they slowly start to go home.
